Pieres Power in the form of two Piaget Ambassadors play for the Cote d’Azur Polo Cup in St Tropez

Following their highly successful 2015 high goal season in England playing together in King Power Foxes and winning both the Queen’s Cup at Guards Polo Club and the Gold Cup at Cowdray Park Polo Club, brothers and Piaget Ambassadors, Gonzalito and Facundo Pieres enjoyed a few weeks downtime before heading to the St Tropez Polo Club to play in the 18 goal Cote d’Azur tournament.

Played from 6th – 16th August, six teams competed in this inaugural high goal tournament at the newly expanded club. This time however Gonzalito and Facundo faced each other on opposite sides, with Gonzalito Pieres lining up to play with Hanspeter Spek’s – La Concepcion team and Facundo Pieres joining patron Alshair Fiyaz in his F Polo Team.

After winning their first two matches (7 v 5.5 St Tropez Polo Team and 12 v 10.5 La Quinta) La Concepcion faced F Polo Team on Wednesday 12th August – meaning each side had a Piaget Ambassador in their team as the Pieres brothers headed for opposing goal posts. In the end it was older brother Gonzalito’s team who finally won the match by a goal (9 v 8) meaning La Concepcion headed into the
Final, where they faced Ferne Park.

Despite some close league games, F Polo Team lost 7 v 9 Ferne Park, but won their match 11 v 7.5 Composite Works, putting them in the Subsidiary Finals, in which they again beat Composite Works 6 v 3.5 (with the game being finished early due to rain). Much strong play was evident in the final, but La Concepcion were unable to stop Ferne Park from winning the game. Most Valuable Player of the match was awarded to Gonzalito Pieres.

Gonzalito and Facundo will next be seen playing in their Ellerstina team, sponsored by Piaget in the Argentine Triple Crown, alongside brother Nico and cousin Polito.
