Piaget names new Polo Brand Ambassadors

Piaget, the Swiss luxury watchmaker and leading sponsor of polo, has announced the appointment of four top-ranked international players as Piaget Brand Ambassadors for 2014.

The four athletes are members of the Ellerstina Piaget polo team, one of only six teams who
automatically qualify to compete in all the tournaments of Argentina’s famous Triple Crown: the Tortugas, Hurlingham and Argentine Open Championships- the highest rated polo competitions in the sport.

Ten-goal superstars Gonzalito and Facundo Pieres, along with younger brother Nicolas (nine)
and their brother in-law Mariano Aguerre, all members of the Ellerstina Piaget team, have been named Piaget Brand Ambassadors for 2014.

Piaget and Ellerstina have a lot in common. Both have been in polo for several decades and hard work are the corner stone for success in their respective fields. Like Piaget in the watch business, the Pieres family are involved in all facets of the game. There are many moving parts, ranging from the breeding and training of the horses to the on-field play making which all have to work in a seamless manner. Passion for all aspects of sport and the relentless quest for perfection have made the Ellerstina Piaget players winners all over the world in the game of kings!

Some of Piaget’s Brand Ambassadors have been in action in England’s high-goal, pro-am tournaments this season. Facundo Pieres has already won the Queen’s cup at Guards Polo Club, playing for Zacara.

On 26th July, Facundo Pieres was victorious again playing in Argentina National Team against England for the Coronation Cup in The Audi International Guards Polo Club. International Day, launched in 1971, is the flagship event of the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA), governing body of polo in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Coronation Cup, dating back to 1911, is one of the sport’s most coveted international prizes, played for between England and national teams from abroad. Piaget is Official Timepiece Partner for this year’s Audi International.

After the English high-goal season, Piaget’s Brand Ambassadors head home to Argentina to prepare for their country’s Triple Crown. The Triple Crown series, open to teams with up to the sport’s maximum of 40 goals, starts with the Tortugas Open, followed by the Hurlingham Open and then the greatest prize of all, the Argentine Open at Palermo in Buenos Aires.
